About Composite Design and Research

 

Founded in 2016, Composite Design and Research was built on the principle that innovation in advanced materials should be both technically sound and application-ready. With deep roots in aerospace, defense, and energy sectors, we specialize in cutting-edge composites, thermoplastics, and nano-enhanced solutions.

Led by Dr. Jason Gibson, a recognized leader in the field, our mission is to bridge the gap between research and real-world application — helping clients accelerate development, improve performance, and unlock new markets through smarter material strategies.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)

 At Composite Design and Research, we support the next generation of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft with lightweight, high-performance composite solutions. Our team brings deep experience working with NCAMP- and AMS-certified materials, including advanced thermoplastics, to help eVTOL developers meet demanding aerospace standards. From structural airframe components to production-ready material strategies, we enable efficient, certifiable solutions for this rapidly evolving market. 

Extreme Temperature Applications

 

We also specialize in extreme temperature applications, offering expertise in ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) and carbon/carbon materials for thermal protection and propulsion-related systems. Advanced Pressure Vessel Technologies

 

 At Composite Design and Research, we specialize in lightweight, high-performance solutions for hydrogen, LNG, and other advanced containment systems. With deep expertise in Type III and IV composite vessels, graphene-enhanced epoxies, thermoset and thermoplastic applications, we help clients optimize structural integrity, and permeability control across mobility and energy platforms.

Composite Armor

 Composite Design and Research brings over two decades of expertise in developing lightweight, high-performance armor systems for defense and security applications. We specialize in hybrid composite solutions that integrate nano-enhanced materials, ceramic strike faces, and high-strength fibers to meet stringent ballistic and blast performance standards. From personal protective equipment to vehicle and structural armor systems, we support clients with material selection, performance modeling, and rapid prototyping to deliver optimized protection without compromising mobility.
